Cult Of The Abyss is a cute-horror-survival-sandbox that lands you in a broken world ruled by a dark apocalyptic cult. A whimsical journey takes place in which you play the character of a boy called “Quest” and his best friend “Dippy” - a dog.
You both need to search for loot, explore and survive while you try to find a way home. You build your own hideouts, protect and defend them to not get overrun by the eerie creatures that hunt you at nighttime.
The game offers searching loot, crafting, base building,magic , farming, taking care of your dog and most importantly surviving together!
The whole project is a one-man development.

Hi, .. Feedback:
- Controls are very wonky. It is hard to avoid hurting your own dog. It is hard to get your guy to do what you want, and the constant 'why not using right-click?' I don't need. I feel this would be the main thing to fix.
- Difficulty is tuned WAY TOO HIGH for a person learning/starting the game. Fortunately, I have played survival games before so I tried to build some kind of shelter before night, but it took all day to figure out how to gather/build and even then I used a pre-existing structure I found. It was NOT easy to build a workbench and even when I had built a door, they knocked it down. Once this happens, the game is over. You WILL die.
- I had enough wood to build another door, but when I used it on the workbench I would do the work, the craft would end. Resources were consumed - no door. This is a very serious bug in a game about survival, as it means life or death.
I'm sorry to be terse, I'm VERY frustrated
hey loopywolf, thx for the feedback. Yea i agree the controls are not there yet and the balancing of difficulty, keep in minds its an early alpha. If you craft something on the workbench the stuff should be inside the workbench when its done, have you checked that?
I Rarely post videos to the pages cause I don't want to force my channel on someone HOWEVER lol I found this game to be FULLY addicting and such a GREAT kickstarted demo i can't help but help promote it anyway possible :) Great job! I havent gotten the nostalgia from the first game i ever played since then but this game fully gave it back to me :)

I'm getting the same problem, it will let me click on credits exit and the about section but if i try and make a new game it wont let me. I'm on mac
hey thx for letting me know. i think i know the issue, it seems to appear only on macs and needs to be fixed. but for now i can only suggest to wait a bit eventually it should load.
This game has a lot to learn in it, but I enjoyed it. I feel like I've just barely scratched the surface, but as you go you pick up on new things consistently. There;s many things I still don't understand, and I'm sure plenty more that I would never guess existed. Amazing work for a single developer, it's really good even for a larger company. There's a few bugs here and there, but mostly not game breaking I think. I do think the turret probably isn't supposed to shoot the dog though. I also would tone down the brightness a bit, it seemed a little overexposed unless that was just the graphics settings I had.
