I hold an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree in Child Development. In my off time I enjoy reading, shopping, and dinner with friends. I am the Mom to my Fur baby Bentley. Book Café (Lunch Bunch)

Students meet during lunch once a month to discuss and blog about their favorite books.

Broadway Babies

Advisors - Mrs. Cerulli and Mrs. Ebert

Open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Rehearsals will be on Thursdays, occasional Wednesdays (some Fridays and Saturdays as we get closer to the date of the show in February). Students will receive a rehearsal schedule with dates and times for their scenes. Parents who wish to help, please contact the advisors. An informational meeting will be held for interested students prior to auditions.

Open to all Madison students who want to show their school spirt! We will be creating, t-shirts, posters, banners, noise makers and more to show our school spirt at basketball games. Our goal is to have the BEST student section to help cheer on our fellow Panthers!

A select group that meets once a week after school. 6th, 7th and 8th grade string students can audition at the beginning of the year and mid-year after the winter concert.

Cyber Robotics Coding Competition

Advisors - Mrs. Ormond and Mrs. Trotta
Madison is entering a Cyber Robotics Coding Competition coming to Connecticut for the first time. It is an exciting online competition using a cloud-based simulation platform featuring a virtual, 3D animated robot. The competition focuses on code development – the new frontier of STEM – Teams in grade levels will compete from any Chrome computer browser to complete missions and challenges. The competition begins in October and ends at the beginning of December.


Debate Club

Advisor - Mrs. Cerulli

Students will learn skills of effective argument, using evidence to defend a position, and the ability to recognize and understand opposing viewpoints. Students choose the debate topics and compete in teams against each other a few times during the school year. The Debate Club is open to all MMS students in grades 6-8. We meet on Mondays approximately twice a month in room 222.

French Club

Advisor - Mr. Sakly

The French club meets every Thursday after school. It is an occasion for all students (6-8) to improve their language skills and explore various aspects of the French-speaking world through music, sports, cultural celebrations, culinary arts and leisure-time activities. Our first meeting is scheduled for-- Thursday, October 1st in room 204. Be part of the French club and enjoy “un bon voyage” not only to France or Canada but also to other French-speaking countries!!

Green Thumbs Club

Advisor - Mrs. Payne
Green Thumbs is more than just a gardening club! We will learn how to compost, collect and reuse our natural resources such as rainwater and seeds while planting and sustaining a garden. Come join on Mondays after school in the lobby of the guidance department!

History Day Project

Advisor - Mr. Stec

This club makes history come alive for students by engaging them in the discovery of the historical, cultural and social experiences of the past. Through hands-on experiences and presentations, students are better able to inform the present and shape the future. Students end the year at a statewide competition.


Jazz Band

Advisor - Mr. Thornton

Jazz Band is an auditioned group for band members and rhythm section, which meets every Wednesday. Students learn a variety of styles of jazz music, perform in concerts and other events, and go on a festival trip at the end of the year for a competition.

Madison’s Service Club meets regularly during the year to plan activities for the less fortunate in the community.

Madison Mentors

A peer mentoring club in which eighth graders tutor other students at Madison. Students who need academic assistance may join at any time. Madison Mentors meets on Thursdays after school in the library.

Madison Singers

Advisor - Mrs. Ebert

Auditions in early September for 7th and 8th graders only. Auditions are based on tone, range, aptitude and interest. The Singers have mandatory rehearsals on Wednesdays after school and perform at both December and May concerts as well as attend outside performances and field trips.

Math Counts

Students are welcome to join MathCounts, Madison’s math club which will begin on October 6th after school in Mrs. Muralidharan's room. Eight students from the club will be selected to represent Madison in competition in February. The mission of MathCounts is to increase enthusiasm for the enhance achievement in middle school mathematics throughout the United States.

Panther Press Newspaper Club

The Panther Press will meet Thursdays after school in the Room 103. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics as we write, edit, and publish each issue

PALs Peer Ally Leaders

Advisor - Ms. Heifetz and Mrs. Yarmosh

Peer Ally Leaders is a group of students trained by the Anti-Defamation League to become empowered to Step UP and act as allies rather than bystanders when faced with the negative or detrimental behaviors of their peers both in and out of school PALs will work to share their strategies and tools with the entire school community in order to help others act as allies in situations like mean behaviors, prejudicial statements or bullying. PALs meet one to two times per month to develop their skills and deliver their message to the whole school.

Peer Mediators

Advisor - Ms. Exantus
Peer Mediators help find a resolution when conflict arises among students. Peer Mediators will receive training on how to assist their peers in finding a win-win solution. Peer Mediators Club will meet one to two times a month on Wednesdays.

Period 8 Club

Advisor - Ms. Exantus

Provide students with a quiet and productive place to complete homework and receive organizational support. Period 8 Club will meet Mondays after school in room 127A.

Rubik's Cube Club


Advisor - Mr. DeNuzzo

Students will meet once every other week to solve different Rubik’s cubes. Students can work on improving their record time with different starting patterns. Towards the end of the school year, students may compete for small prizes. We will also discuss upcoming tournaments for those interested in outside competition.

Science Bowl Club


Advisor - Mrs. Ardito

Open to all Madison students who LOVE science, Madison’s science bowl club which will begin in October after school in room 114. Ten students from the club will be selected to represent Madison in a competition in February at the University of Connecticut. The Science Bowl is sponsored by the Department of Energy, and is a “highly competitive science education and academic event among teams of high school and middle school students who compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math.”

Sports Club

Advisor - Mr. Pacelli

Seasonal activities take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school. Late buses at 3:20 are provided. Students are notified via morning announcements what the upcoming activity is and when it begins. Students sign up in physical education classes and permission slips are given to them. Everyone is welcome to participate, but no one is allowed to play without a signed permission slip by a parent or guardian.

Star Wars Club

Students meet Thursday in room 220 to watch Star Wars movies and engage in themed activities.

Stock Market Club

Advisor - Mrs. Ciardi

What would you do with $100,000? Join the Stock Market club, and test your skills as a Wall Street portfolio manager. This 10-week simulated financial experience is designed to put students on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Students will have the opportunity to invest funds and watch their strategies in action, speculating and calculating as they sharpen their critical thinking and research skills. Student investors will use the news, technology and other media to recognize business trends while experiencing real life lessons in math, economics, business and team work. So if you are up for this challenging and rewarding experience, please see Mrs. Ciardi in room 203 for more information.

Student Government

Elections are held in September for representatives from grades 6, 7 & 8. They meet once a month after school to plan community and social events for the school year. The Student Government represents the voice of all the students at Madison!

S.W.A.T. Tech Club

Advisors - Ms. Doherty, Ms. Dwyer, and Ms. Durand

Students who love technology will be trained to use different operating systems and software (Windows, MAC OS, Google Drive). As certified tech experts at Madison, SWAT members will assist teachers and students with technological issues at Madison. Club meets on Wednesdays after school.


Web Club

Meets Mondays after school in computer lab 214. Students learn the basics of coding and designing websites using HMTL. Students will be working to update Madison’s website on a weekly basis. All students are welcome.

Yearbook

Students will sign up with Mrs. Tigner and take on roles and responsibilities according to interest: such as photography, sales, graphic design and other computer work. New Members are always welcome. Attendance will depend on what role a student takes on the Yearbook Club.
